So it turns out, having a 1 year old really can take up a lot of time! Blogging becomes a thing of the past because I am so tired by the time I actually get to sit down and work. I swear, my kiddo can play happily by himself for the longest time while I clean, make phone calls, etc.. But the second I sit down at the computer, he is at my side, pulling at my leg, holding up a book for me to read to him, (I know, how can I resist!!), or crying to get up on my lap. Then, instead of whatever work I thought I might get done, I am reading a book to my little guy on the floor and forgetting all about work. What can you do. I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

On to this weeks tip… I thought I would talk about session tips, regarding timing rather than “during the shoot” tips. I get a lot of questions about turn around time – “When should I schedule my session?”. Here’s the deal…

Your shoot will take about 2 hours (4 if you include hair and makeup). After the shoot, I try to send samples within a week, but your final images are typically finished within 2 weeks. After that, it depends a bit on what you choose to do with your images. A simple 5×7 album can take up to 2 weeks for delivery and larger albums can take up to 4. All that being said, I recognize the need for some faster processing – due to deadlines like weddings, birthday and anniversaries… and can certainly work with you to make it happen, however much time you may have. If time permits, I suggest scheduling at least a month before you would like to receive your final product.

Feel free to send me an email or give me a call to schedule your session.

This week’s tip comes from the fabulous Linda Wagner (my makeup artist/ stylist/ friend :)…..) Please visit her website to view her incredible work. Linda does makeup and styling for my boudoir shoots, she is lovely in every way. And all of my clients leave loving her too :)

From Linda:

This Week’s Tip: False eyelashes are the quickest leap to glamor!!

No matter whether you were blessed with the most amazing lashes, (which in my experience, little boys seem to have the best) or just average length; you can pump up the volume by just adding a simple strip of lashes, bringing more allure to the eye. Don’t let the false lash scare you, here is all you have to do:

After shadow and liner has been applied, curl the natural lash, and add mascara. Then, measure out the false lash to the eye, and trim it accordingly. Add glue to the lash and lay it softly onto the lash line. I also make sure that the lash is blended to the natural lash, so that when your eyes are closed, it looks natural. This is especially helpful when you are shooting a down angle shot, like below.

(and of course, Linda was on set for the hair, makeup and styling of this shot.)

Did anyone catch the episode of Cougar Town when Travis got boudoir photos taken for his girl friend?  (You have to see it!)  I was a little disappointed that they showed a sleazy 1980’s style boudoir studio and photographer, but we all know it is not like that anymore. Right!!!!

Today’s Posing Tip: How to pull the camera’s pants down with your eyes. (quote from the show…)

There are all sorts of ways to get that certain look in your eyes.  The biggest challenge is doing it in front of the camera without looking cheesy and not laughing!!  Here is my tip.  (I should add here that I read this tip on another blog, and sadly, I cannot find the source.  So, please, if you wrote this and are reading it here, please comment and let me know so that I can give you proper credit!)

You can try this at home too, in front of your mirror.  Pair it with the previous tip on touching yourself for the ultimate effect :) It’s easy, close your eyes.  Take a very slow deep breath in.  Now open your eyes as you let it out looking straight into the camera.

This will give you a relaxed, seductively sexy look.  hotness.

This week’s Tip:  Accessorize “Strategically”

This shot is just the “tip of the iceberg” of a incredibly sexy shoot I had the honor of doing last week.  S.E.X.Y.  Trust me, you can’t wait til you see the rest.

She brought a variety of accessories, inspired by another photo she had seen and it was spectacular.  She also brought a friend, who was ever so sweet and a FANTASTIC stylist. Everything looked amazing.  I can only hope that I was able to capture their vision :)

I tend to ask my clients to bring just a few pieces of jewelry, mainly because I won’t focus on it and it gets lost in the photo.  But when you work it into a specific look, like she did, it finds a way to work perfectly!

A big chunky necklace that falls across you back in just the right spot, an engagement ring, some diamond earrings or a necklace he bought you as a gift; whatever it is, keep it simple and work it into the look.

Hats are also a fabulous accessory – especially a fedora… and maybe a pair of suspenders.  H. O. T.!

I’m not a huge  on “posing”.  That’s not to say that I do not help you to pose.  I promise I do!  I just tend to see what I want in what you will do naturally.  I will often stop a client while she is getting up from a pose or fixing something on her panties.  I am just responding to your natural movement.  Finding those little sexy things only you do.  Things you might not notice.

This is Rene.  She is simply stunning.  Seriously, after our shoot, I felt sexier!  We shot this a couple of years ago, but I needed her to help me illustrate today’s posing tip.

Notice the theme in the images below?  She is touching herself.

Yes, I know, it sounds dirty.  But I promise, it makes your photos that much sexier and sensual if you just touch yourself.  USE your hands.  Be it a hand running through your hair, or brushing across your chest or chin, touch your skin somewhere.

Try dragging your finger or hand up your thigh (very sensually).  Go ahead, try it, no one will see.  (seriously, I just did it.)  Did you feel sexier?  I bet your facial expression changed too.  Now, I know that once you are behind the lens, it gets a little harder to run your hand up your thigh and feel comfortable feeling sexy about it, but if you can remember what that just felt like, it will help you during your shoot.  tremendously.  Try practicing in front of the mirror when you are alone.  And when we shoot, we can totally try it, and even laugh about it.  I love me some laughing shots. It’s not all about what your body looks like, it’s also about what you feel.  If you feel sensual and sexy, you images will BE sexy and sensual.

Well I had quite the fantastic weekend.  Two fabulous shoots with the lovely Linda Wagner.  (thank you Lovely Linda!)  They were both seriously AMAZING!  Such gorgeous incredible women.  Goodness I am a lucky gal.

This week’s tip:  Embrace Your Feminine Side. Although most of my clients are having photos taken for their “man”, the experience ultimately ends up being for her.  Case in point… the fabulous Jessica, a client who started with me as a mom for family photos!  I have been photographing her family for 2 years now and after her boudoir shoot with me, she said “I’m sure my husband will be speechless, really it ended up not just being a gift for him but for me as well.”  (note: the photo below is not of Jessica, I am saving her gorgeous shoot for the updated website launch coming soon!!)

Get to the point, right??  I know, I tend to babble.  What I am getting at, is that after you have found your sexy bombshell looks, the bootie panties and t-shirt that he loves, pick something out for yourself.  Something comfortable, pretty and feminine.  Something you can wear again, under a t-shirt and sweats, and feel luxurious. You could bring your pajamas, a robe or something sweet from Anthropologie’s gorgeous lingerie collection, (seriously, you must check this out.)

I have an endless amount of new images to share with you.  I am in the process of adding my work from the past 2 years to my website.  Yes, you heard me right, 2 years worth of work!!!  I have been busy shooting away, getting married, and having a baby. I am always coming across shots that I can’t wait to share.  This is one of them.

This week’s Tip: Get a lingerie fitting and figure out what works best for YOU.

Seriously!!  Head over to Anastasia’s Bath. Body. Boudoir. and let then know you have scheduled a shoot with Me.  They will help you find the lingerie that is right for your unique and gorgeous body.  I want you to feel amazing in whatever it is that you choose to wear to your boudoir shoot.  Be BRAVE!! Try on something you might otherwise shy away from.  Take for instance Kelly.  Gorgeous Kelly.  She went to Anastasia’s where Lilly helped her to pick out some AMAZING pieces.  When she came out of the dressing room at her shoot in this, my. jaw. dropped.  SMOKIN HOT!!!  She said that she would have NEVER tried it on, but once she did, she LOVED it.  Absolutely.
