Posted on February 10, 2010

It is that time of year again!  Valentine’s Day is just days away!  In honor of the holiday this year, I wanted to introduce my readers to Lilly, over at Anastasia’s, Scottsdale’s unique lingerie and boudoir boutique.  I have been working with Lilly for some time now and not only are her lingerie collections incredible, but she is fabulous too!  You can meet her below – as she and her store were featured on Fox 10 News’ Girls Club this morning!  After you watch the show, please scroll down to view some of her lingerie and a personal interview!  I love sending my boudoir clients to Anastasia’s, because Lilly knows just what they need for their Femme Art boudoir photography session.  You won’t find anything else like it in town.

And here is a personal interview with Lilly, along with some of her lingerie showcased in photographs from a recent session with the fabulously HOT Mrs.K.

What is the most important thing to remember when buying lingerie?

Buy what fits you, and makes you feel fabulous; not what you think someone else would want you to buy.  Remember, if you don’t feel confident wearing a garment, your insecurity will make you uncomfortable, and chances are you’ll never wear that garment twice.

What makes Anastasia’s different than other lingerie shops in town?

Anastasia’s is unique because the sexy lingerie and European ambiance encourage femininity without sacrificing sophistication and good taste.  In the US most lingerie has a sexual connotation and can make you feel as if you are wearing a costume designed for one purpose.  But European designs offer a truly feminine fit, a celebration of our shapes, and sexy fabrics that can be worn every day.  Because we girls are feminine and sexy every where,  every day, not just in the bedroom.

What does Anastasia’s offer, other than gorgeous lingerie?

We offer fabulous jewelry, luxurious bath/body products, and special décor treasures.  Anastasia’s is really a boudoir boutique.  You’ll discover fine lingerie, and wonderful accessories to create feminine ambiance for your boudoir.  But there’s so much more…  We also offer Bridal Registry so the bride’s wedding trouseau will be everything she ever wanted.  And we offer custom embellished bustiers.  We take a great fitting, simple bustier, and embellish it with Swarovski crystals, ribbons, feathers, anything you can dream of, to create a one-of-a-kind bustier made just for you!

What should someone look when buying lingerie for a boudoir photo shoot?

When shopping for lingerie to wear to your photo shoot, look for three things:  sheerness, texture, and shine.  Select lingerie with a sheer quality, something that shows your natural skin underneath.  Try a lacey or chiffon piece.  As for texture, look for a garment that has a combination of textures, such as smooth silk adorned by velvet ribbon and eyelash lace trim.  Lastly, shiny fabrics and embellishments photograph well.  Light reflects off these and will add sparkle to your pictures.  But choose shiny fabrics carefully, as not every garment will look good on every body.

What is the most common mistake women (and men) make when buying lingerie?

The most common mistake women make when buying lingerie is… size.  Ladies, please stop focusing on the size, and simply buy what fits well.  Lingerie sizing is NOT universal, and size/design differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.  Be willing to try a variety of styles and sizes until you find the right fit.  And the most common mistake men make when buying lingerie is… size. Gentlemen, make it easier on yourself…  Read a couple of labels from her bra drawer, write them down, slip it into your wallet, etc.  That’s all you need, we’ll do that rest.

Who is your favorite lingerie designer?

I LOVE Lejaby and Aubade.  They are the epitome of French lingerie.  Their styles fit better than any brand I have ever tried.  Their designs are sexy and feminine, yet can be worn under your work clothes every day.  These two brands in particular make the every-day-you feel feminine and beautiful, confident and worthy.

How long have you been in business?

We celebrated our 2 year anniversary on February 2, 2010.  We are so thrilled and so proud to have succeeded to this milestone.  And we thank our loyal customers for their support and enthusiasm.

What would we find you doing if you were not at the store?

When I’m not here at the store I’m usually working; like searching for fabulous merchandise for the shop, or networking and marketing Anastasia’s.  Spreading the word that Anastasia’s is here, and is a very special place, is a full time job in itself.  But when it’s time to relax, I ride my beautiful horse.  And when I unwind, it’s with my wonderful husband.

What advice might you have for someone looking for a wardrobe for a boudoir photoshoot with Femme Art?

I advise all my customers preparing for a photo shoot with Femme Art to buy what they feel incredible wearing, and wear it with confidence.  That means lingerie, shoes, jewelry, everything.  Your photo shoot is a celebration of YOU, of your femininity, of your sensuality.  Don’t criticize yourself, or worry that your pictures won’t come out.  Pamela is an artist, and her work is amazing.  She will most definitely tap into your essence and create magical images of you.  So relax, have fun, and enjoy the experience.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions Lilly!
